A keto diet is an eating plan that focuses on foods that provide a lot of healthful fats, adequate amounts of protein, and very few carbohydrates. The goal is to get more calories from fat than from carbs. The diet works by depleting the body of its sugar reserves. As a result, it will start to break down fat for energy. This results in the production of molecules called ketones that the body uses for fuel. When the body burns fats, it can also lead to weight loss. Portobello Keto Breakfast Burgers Portobello Keto Breakfast Burgers are maybe one of the best Keto recipes you’ll ever come across. They have all the flavor of a regular burger but promise not to spend eternity on your hips. They have a fairly high protein content as far as Keto dieting goes, but still rich enough in fat to offer and maintain a consistent energy level. We love our with a strong cup of freshly brewed coffee first thing in the morning. You can swap out the bacon and egg for a beef/chicken patty and sliced & cooked onion to upgrade to a lunch burger too! With next to no carbs, this one will never knock you out of Ketosis, so safe to say it is always in heavy rotation in our kitchen. Step 1 Set a skillet or frying pan to a medium heat and melt your butter. Remove the stalks from the Mushrooms then place the mushroom heads in the pan. These will serve as the top and bottom bun for your burger. Cook them until they are no longer firm. About 2 minutes per side will do. Step 2 Remove the Mushrooms and set 2 on one plate, and the other 2 on another, adding a slice of cheese to the bottom bun. Then, add your minced garlic to the pan. Start cooking your bacon with the garlic. 5-8 minutes should be fine here, turning to cook thoroughly. If you like it crispier, cook longer and vice versa. Step 3 Remove the bacon, and set it on on of the Mushroom "buns". Then, gently crack your eggs into the pan. If you have Egg rings to hold their shape, use these. If not, simply fold the eggs over when they start to become firm so they will fit in the mushroom buns. Step 4 Cook the Eggs for 2-3 minutes per side then add them to your bun, covering the Bacon, Eggs and Cheese with your remaining Mushroom "bun". Serve and enjoy!
